Smooth, deliberate actions are key to staying safe during loading and unloading operations.
Why It Matters:
Jerky movements, overcorrections, or sudden acceleration can cause heavy equipment to slip off ramps, tip sideways, or crush nearby workers. Most rollover incidents during loading are avoidable with better control and slower operation.
Key Points:
- Move at low speed and use a low gear or setting when loading/unloading.
- Avoid sharp turns or directional changes on ramps or trailers.
- Don’t rush — take your time to align equipment before attempting to climb or descend a ramp.
- Always face straight up or down the ramp — never approach at an angle.
- If you feel unstable, stop and reassess. It’s safer to back off and reset than to force the move.
✅ Controlled movement is safe movement — speed belongs on the racetrack, not the ramp.
Ask the Crew:
- Are we maintaining smooth operation during loadouts?
- What’s our plan if the equipment feels unstable mid-load?
