Safe Scaffold Use and Access

Toolbox Talk:

No Jumping Between Scaffold Sections

June 25, 2025

Scaffolds must be accessed safely using designated ladders or stairs — never by jumping from platform to platform.

Why It Matters:

Jumping or climbing between sections can lead to falls, broken bones, or even fatal injuries. What seems like a quick shortcut often ends in a trip to the hospital — or worse.

Key Points:

  • Only access scaffold platforms using approved ladders or stair towers.
  • Never jump, climb the frame, or straddle gaps between sections.
  • Platforms may shift or be uneven — even short distances can be dangerous.
  • Supervisors must correct unsafe access behaviors immediately.

✅ Take the long way — it’s the safe way.

Ask the Crew:

  • Have you seen anyone jumping between scaffold sections?
  • Are our ladders and stair towers easy to access?
