Scaffold Platform Safety

Toolbox Talk:

Secure All Tools and Materials on Platforms

June 25, 2025

Loose tools and materials can easily fall or cause tripping hazards on scaffolding.

Why It Matters:

A wrench dropped from a scaffold can severely injure someone below. Likewise, cluttered work areas can lead to slips, trips, and delays. Good housekeeping on elevated platforms prevents accidents and keeps the job running smoothly.

Key Points:

  • Never leave tools or materials near the edge of a scaffold.
  • Use tool lanyards when working at height to prevent drops.
  • Store materials away from walk paths and access points.
  • Secure light materials that could be blown off by the wind.
  • Clean up the platform at the end of every shift.

✅ A clean platform is a safe platform.

Ask the Crew:

  • Are we keeping tools secured and walk paths clear?
  • Have we designated a storage spot on the platform?
