Scaffolds must be visibly tagged to show if they’re safe to use — or off-limits.
Why It Matters:
Clear tagging systems prevent workers from unknowingly using incomplete or unsafe scaffolding. A missing or unclear tag can lead to serious falls or violations.
Key Points:
- Use a green tag to show the scaffold has been inspected and is safe for use.
- A yellow tag means the scaffold has restrictions or is only partially complete — access requires authorization.
- A red tag means the scaffold is unsafe and must not be used.
- Tags should be posted at every entry point and updated immediately after any changes or incidents.
- Only qualified persons should inspect and tag scaffolds.
✅ If it’s not tagged, it’s not safe.
Ask the Crew:
- Are all scaffolds on-site clearly tagged?
- Do we know who’s authorized to tag them?
